Our rackmount AI workstations fit standard 19-inch server racks. Single-GPU inference systems typically occupy 2U-3U of rack space, while 4-GPU training systems require 4U. Exact dimensions depend on the GPU configuration and cooling requirements. We provide detailed rack planning as part of our deployment service.
What power and cooling requirements should I plan for?
Single-GPU systems need a standard 15A/120V circuit. Dual-GPU (192GB) systems require a 20A/120V circuit. Quad-GPU (384GB) systems need a dedicated 20A/240V circuit. All systems use front-to-back airflow. For quad-GPU systems, plan for roughly 3,000W of heat dissipation per node. Can I manage these systems remotely?
Yes. All rackmount systems include IPMI/BMC for out-of-band management. This provides remote power cycling, BIOS access, console redirection, and hardware health monitoring independent of the OS. We also configure SSH, VPN access, and GPU monitoring dashboards (Grafana, DCGM) for day-to-day operational management.
Do you handle rack installation and deployment?
Absolutely. Petronella Technology Group provides turnkey deployment including site assessment, power planning, rack mounting, cable management, network configuration, OS installation, GPU driver setup, and AI framework deployment. We are based in Raleigh, NC and serve the Triangle area for on-site installation. We ship pre-configured systems nationwide with remote deployment support.
Can I mix inference and training nodes in the same rack?
Yes, and many clients do exactly this. A common configuration is 2-3 inference nodes (96GB each) for serving production models alongside a single 384GB training node for fine-tuning. We design rack layouts that optimize power distribution and cooling for mixed GPU workloads.
How loud are rackmount AI workstations?
Rackmount systems use high-RPM fans optimized for airflow rather than silence. Typical noise levels range from 50-70 dBA depending on GPU load. They should be installed in a dedicated server room or data center with proper acoustic isolation. If noise is a concern and you work near your hardware, consider our desktop tower configurations instead.
